last summer, quail vanished, then big homing pigeons started to vanish. Now if anyone kept white homers they are much stronger larger than feral pigeons even. TIP TOP shape. TO take one and keep its powerful wings from taking it, its going to take a predator at least larger than itself or something like a weasel. Everything was dragged down a tiny hole. We put wiring, we put traps, poison, to no avail. Our farm cat a bengal who grew up with birds past five years is good with our pet birds, she has a uncanny abilailty (maybe from her wild leopard blood) to cat a rat the same way a rat terrier can. LIke she will pluck them out of the blue. BUt this is in the barn near feed when rats had audacity to hide in the shadows waiting for us to leave. I really dont know if it was a rat that did that. Whatever it was, it left my silver pheasants and guineas alone. My dog kiled a few coons, a coyote and possum. The poor big male possem wasnt even trying to do anything he just wanted garbage but the cat attacked him and he was too slow to escape befor the cats and dogs kiled him in seconds. THe predator that took these animals through such a tiny hole in a corner has either been killed by my pets or a wild nimal. I dont want that to happen again despite patching stuff up, some animals like rats weasel seem to find themselves in. MINK is the only known creature that can get into holes but still i see minks at the water close to my house they seem way to big to get into that tiny hole the birds were dragged through. ALSO a mink would have targeted my big silver and guineas as well? I mean I Think this creature came out during the day and the guineas did not raise alarm. My cat has been acting wierd around the coop like showing too much interest. I was thinking of leaving the door open at night to allow her to get in there and take care of stuff. There will be a guard dog there in case of bigger predators but this dog has killed so many big predators I think they decided to stop commiting suicide. Weasel is another thing but never heard of them in this area and for a weasel to get here without getting killed through the houses is crazy or i would have seen signs of it. My pigeons were on fertile eggs they were about to hatch now shes not sitting on them. they died in their shell. Was the cold here in ontario? Or did something freak her out? Anyways the cat and dog together seem the best bet i am trying for the first time this method tonight. The cat is one of few who can catch weasels fast also, shes better than our rat terrier actually because she will camp out in front of areas at least and wait for the animal to come free. She also attacks minks (my parents farm.) I was thinking feeding the cat in the coop might make her stay there for a while tonight? IDK everything traps you name it does not work they have become so savy. ALL Traps live, and kill traps.

Wow. Your cat is beautiful and all business! I would invest in a game camera. The list of predators that can squeeze thru tiny openings is endless you’d be surprised what hunger can do.
Sounds like from your birds behavior (leaving their eggs/nest) that what ever it is it’s stressed them and is still returning. The camera will help you figure out what you’re dealing with and how to get rid of it and protect your birds. It’d be nice to hear the end of the story...
Best wishes
