Did anyone set September 2nd/3rd? I could use hatching buddies!

Very cool. So how many chicks / birds to you have total? A ton? I have 8 hens and 2 roosters. Up to 50 baby chicks on the way in the bator which I am hoping for at least a 50% hatch rate since they are shipped eggs.

My broody hen started setting on Sept 1-2. There are more eggs under her now. I counted alot more. I caught another hen laying eggs near her and she added them to her pile. It looks like I may have babies for another few weeks.

Let's see... 3 in the Ameraucana pen + 4 in the Splash SilkieX pen + 4 young Black Rosecomb roos + 4 Sebrights + 8 in the adolescent pen (who will soon be spread out amongst the other pens) + 4 Black Rosecomb + 4 red/white EEs =31 roos/hens in the cages and tractors; they produce all of my homegrown chicks. Then there are 6 roos who are permanent free rangers, for 37 total. Here is a thread where I posted pictures of most of my pens; the Ameraucana and Splash SilkieX are the only ones not shown yet. https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=565317

Not long ago I sent about a dozen EE and SilkieX pullets ready to start laying up the Hill to Mom and Sis; they were getting low on egglayers. They get all the pullets that I don't intend to breed from. I'm breeding for blue-egg laying Silkies, which is why I need all the different pens for different colors.

In the outside brooder are 30 chicks hatched recently and there are 6 chicks inside (the ones in the latest picture I posted) for 36 chicks. I'm working on a pallet house and run for the Marans

that I put in the incubator yesterday. There will also be a pen for the Silkies from eggs that are due to go into lockdown on Friday the 23rd. They will be in the brooder for a while, so I have plenty of time to build another pallet house. I have plenty of room for chicken pens!

Wow super fun! I really love your silver seabrites! Your setup is our dream. We really want to work on breeding silver campines! Well my bf that is. My favorite are more of the heavy breads with the blue and red or silver penciling. He is really getting into this. Everyday he tries to beat me home to see how many eggs are in the coop. Last night he added tons of climbing / perching areas for them. We also installed a mister and a fan which blows it around. The hens and our 1 EE love to lay under the mister and roll around to keep cool. It is pretty funny.

So just to check is a pallet house a chicken coop made out of wooden pallets?

Super! Bantams especially tend to hatch sooner, for me at least, than the larger eggs. You'll have them popping out of the shells like popcorn!

This is the pallet house for the chickens that I'm working on atm:

More pictures as it nears completion.
