Did carbon minoxide kill my chicks?

Anything else going on at the time? Paints, aerosole sprays, and other products can produce noxious fumes. We had a rabbit die this way once. Just because we people can take the offensive odors does not mean small critters can. Just a thought.

What did you cook your pizza on? If it was a teflon pan, that could have done it. Even the slightest burning of teflon can kill birdies.

Makes ya wonder, doesnt it bout how safe the stuff is for us even?

I learned this the hard way.

I lost all of my finches and budgies as a young child because my parents used a non-stick tray at a high temperature; the fumes killed the birds. I'm thinking others are correct in thinking that this may be what killed your chicks. Sorry to hear of your loss

Thanks for the kind words everyone. I do bake our pizzas on a pizza stone, but there is a mat at the bottom of the oven for catching crumbs. It may have teflon in it. One thing I did not think of is we did paint our bedroom earlier in the day. It is about 60 feet from the kitchen, but could the fumes become toxic if heated? Our furnace was not on, but the fumes could trickle through the house, I guess. I think I am getting close to solving the mystery.
thanks again, Scott
