Did everyone catch the Denny's commercial?

I didn't get it.

The Grand Slam is bacon, sausage, hashbrowns, pancakes and eggs. The chickens are screaming over eggs?

I liked the chickens all over...then the Grand Slam blurb and I was lost.

I liked the chickens, but wouldn't the pigs take it a bit more serious? The hens contribute, but the pig is committed, as the saying goes. Little squealing pigs running amok, now THAT would be funny.

I don't get to watch the superbowl or commercials

It is my job to live in the kitchen and overfeed everyone.

If it sounds like i'm complaining - i'm not. I love the kitchen and cooking is my "thing

so i'm told"

I guess they think most people assume it's alot of work for a chicken to lay an egg?

h

That's my best guess....
Thanks for posting the link. I didn't watch the game.

Yup, my boys & I watched them this morning online. We especially liked the scene at the end of the one where the chickens are watching TV at the bar, there are some REAL chickens in the crowd.

I think the ones screaming the loudest are all the Denny's cooks & wait staff who will be working that day. If you plan to go for a free Grand Slam be certain to treat your server with extra consideration and remember to include the value of your free meal when leaving your tip. I did briefly consider taking my kids out on Tuesday for a "free" breakfast at Denny's, but have since decided otherwise. I would still have to pay for the gas for the trip into town, and pay for beverages and a nice tip. There's a chance I would encounter a crowded restaurant, rushed service, and a hastily cooked meal. I wouldn't dare send my plate back on that day if my food wasn't cooked to my satisfaction. Most importantly, the breakfast would feature aged factory farmed eggs, which cannot compare to the goodness of my own flock's fresh offerings. I also think I can make better pancakes than those white-flour ones Denny's serves.

This is a nice offer from Denny's, and a good deal if you already have to get your breakfast out. Those commercials were entertaining, but those hens don't have to scream on my behalf, I'll be eating at home.

I probably would have found it funny if I didn't know the plight of your average factory farmed layer... an entire life in a tiny cage with several other hens without even the room to turn around, cage stacked upon cage 8 feet high and several hundred feet long, all in the name of more efficient egg laying.

It occurred to me to ask exactly how much more was expected of them beyond what they already give.

That's why I raise my own egg layers and meat chickens. I don't want to be a part of that system, so will be skipping the Grand Slam with its anemic, watery eggs in favor of something more healthy.

For both me and the hen.
