Did I accidentally get a rooster?

Does anyone know when I should expect him to start crowing. He's 6-7 months old now. He's second on the peaking order. Is there a possibility that he just will never crow? *fingers crossed finger crossed*
Ah so happy about his breed :)

At some point he will start crowing. Most cockerels start crowing around 4-5 months, but sometimes it's considerably longer before they start crowing, and on rare occasions, a cockerel will not begin crowing for nearly a year.

It could go both ways... My banty roos both started crowing at 12 weeks, and have competed ever since. One crows, then the other... Repeatedly. Every hour on the hour. My Red Star won't crow in front of them, but he'll sneak behind the fence and garbleca quick one out, and he's 20 weeks... I hear these anecdotes of roosters not crowing for...a year? Oh I wish lol.... Not for me evidently; I never really paid attention to how old they were before, mostly just as soon as they were mounting and they could sort their hens out of the flock....

But I'd say that depends entirely on space. Too many roos in too small of space, and they might hold off on the crowing a little longer; no room to take his ladies elsewhere, so he puts up with cohabitating with a bigger( or in my case, half their size but older) male.

He's the only roo I own (I thought he was a hen up until a few weeks ago). He's second in the peaking order to my Wyandotte pullet (who's half his size). Maybe she's keeping him for doing it?
Or he's having gender identity issues? Lol. Well I'm totally fine with that as long as he still realises how to give me fertile eggs.
Just finished making his collar so I'm now ready for that first crow (pray it never actually happens)

If your talking about the Dark blue/Black Bird I'm pretty sure that its a cockerel because of the tail feathers characteristic of a Cock or Cockeral

Being the only roo may bring you fortune ha-ha; he has no idea that he even NEEDS to crow with no competition and no other hens means he's pretty secure in his standing, so he very well might not crow for a long time.... Maybe that's what I'm doing wrong ha-ha, I always have too many roosters and they teach each other to crow as babes lol ;)

One of my Americaunas turned out to be a rooster. Crows more than I would like but it is what it is. Being new to raising Chickens, all of my reading has been about raising hens. What should I do with the Rooster? Is he okay in with the girls? Any information you folks can share would be very helpful. I really do not want to get rid of him if I don't need to.

They can be a handful at times... I recommend searching the heading "training roosters" to start out with. Hormones and pecking order play a HUGE role in how he will behave after "puberty".
