Did I accidentally get a rooster?

I went and bought some Orpington hens today for my rooster (who jumped straight on the back of one- so at least he knows how to do that job), and I showed her a picture of my rooster and she said that there is no way he is pure bred and is likely to have light breed in there somewhere. She told me to look at pure bred photos online (which I have and he doesnt look that different). Any thoughts on that comment?
I didnt think he was pure bred when I bought him, but he looks so much like the photos online.
