Did I do the right thing?

Get a flashlight and look in if you want or just start breaking and chipping off pieces. Movement or breathing motions or cheeping would be what indicates they're alive. At this point, I think they'll need assistance anyway, if they were alive.

Two of the Ameraucanas (the two iffy ones) stoped developing early on and the other two hadn't fully absorbed the yoke but both looked black one possible a dark blue. The last of caroline's eggs hadn't absorbed the yoke at all and it was for sure black and no feathered legs.

I changed the papers in the bator and put in some fluffy stuff (like the stuff you stuff pillows with) for the unblanced chick to sit on. What would be the best temp for the chicks? Is humidity important now?

the chicks expecially the blue have dried membrane on them, is there anything I can do to get that off?

Corey, I had to go to bed because of a migraine last night and didn't see this till this morning. How are the babies? Have you moved them to the brooder yet? Humidity would not have been an issue unless it was so high the babies could not dry off in the bator. Let me know how things are. Sounds like perhaps you had a humidity issue in the bator or something with all the unabsorbed yolk, but its hard to say sometimes. At least I know they were fertile to begin with, thank goodness. When I send you the pure Blue Orps, do you want more of Caroline's as well? Her eggs are slightly larger now, still golfball shaped but larger golfballs, LOL.

They are doing great they are in the incubator still. the little blue one has gotten to it's feet and is working on trying to move around. when you send the blue orps I'll take what ever extras you have no matter the breed. I think I am adicted to hatching. I figure the more practice I have the better I'll get.

Is there anything I can do about the dried membrane?

HI Corey, I got the dried membrane off mine with very warm water and a q-tip.. I moistened it and wiped it over the membrrane and it all came off

Glad they're doing well! I agree with Denna, just warm water and a Qtip should help. So this one has feathered feet and is blue? Cool! Seems that so far, about half of the Suede/Caroline babies have feathered feet and a little more than half are black.

Wouldn't it be nifty if the chick looked just like suede but had feathered feet? I should start a new breed, feather footed orpingtons! I am gonna let the baby get some more energy then I will work on getting the membrane off. Pics will come soon.

Corey, so glad the little one is doing better. I know you must be worried. Wanted to let you know that the rooster my grandson got from you in Statesville is quite the charmer. He is doing great.
