Hi all!

Well, I may have a little man in my little lady flock. I posted a pic. It's an Americauna. They were purchased May 10th...so a few months old already. Not the best pic b/c "she" doesn't stop moving...ever. How and when can I tell? By the looks of verything I read on this website, I guess until it crows??? The pic with 3 hens...it's the one in the middle

All chickens in the cage are pullets. And the two closest to the left are easter eggers not ameraucanas :)

Female. We can tell by color, roosters are flashy and splashy and blochy colored, hens are even, smooth, drab. There's a whole thread on sexing easter eggers by color if you want to see more examples.

Everybody is a female. There are no large red combs, blotchy coloring, or red patches on the wings. And, you have Easter Eggers, not Ameraucanas. Ameraucanas are a pure breed that only come in a few specified color patterns, and lay blue eggs. Easter Eggers can be all colors, and usually lay greenish blue eggs. You can rarely find pure Ameraucanas unless you get them from a breeder.

Thanks everyone! Breeder told me I was getting Ameraucanas...oh well! As long as I get me some eggs...
