Did I just hurt my chicken with permethrin 10?!?

Ok another update. She was acting so much better this afternoon so I thought I’d attempt to rinse her off with some plain warm water in the hot sun as she still smelled heavily of permethrin. Unfortunately she did not like that . I only had her in maybe 10 sec. When I got her out she started walking all wobbly again. She wasn’t as bad as yesterday but just stood in one place and went to sleep. I def should not have tried it. I tried to get her to dust bathe before multiple times but she wouldn’t. She is eating a drinking but has taken a few steps back. I am no longer going to attempt any more soaks. She did much better today when her feathers were dry so hoping she will be a little better tomorrow. 😭 she’s got poultry cell and nutridench in her water and she has some food with her. The brooder is warm right now so I don’t have a heat lamp on her now. If it gets cool again like it did last night and she isn’t completely dry I may turn the heat lamp back on.
It sounds like water baths are just too stressful for her.

Yeah. 😔 no more for her. But at least she isn’t falling over like she did last night. She still won’t lay down to sleep. She’s standing up but seems to have better balance. I’m just leaving her alone for the night and hopefully tomorrow we will start over and get some more sun baths. She seemed to do much better today after them. I’ll keep y’all updated on how she’s doing. Thanks again everyone for all the advice and support! I def have a better experience on here than in the FB groups!

Hoe you are feeling okay!? Did you wear gloves and a facemask? Fortunately we can tolerate permethrin at some dose, but it' wasn't meant for you either at that dose...
Mary
Yes I’m fine. Just super stressed out about doing this to her. I did wear glove. I didn’t wear a mask but beside being turned off from the smell I’m ok. Thank you for asking though!

Do you have a hair dryer so you can dry her well, at least underneath?

It sounds like she's not wanting to lay down, perhaps it's because she's wet.

Why are you trying to make her take a dust bath? I'm not quite understanding this.

Tomorrow, place her back outside like you did today and leave her to her own devices.

I think if she can make through the second shock of bathing and get back outside, she may be o.k. with just a bit of monitoring and TLC.

I was speaking with someone else on this thread about how she still smells like permethrin and how maybe dust bathing may help but she does not want to. I was hoping because she was doing so much better that maybe a quick soak could help. Wrong. 😭🤦🏻‍♀️. She def didn’t like it so absolutely no more baths for her. She is still better tonight than last night. She is dry now and was dry all day before the second bath. It’s getting cool again tonight so I did put the heat lamp back in with her but she can easily get away from the heat if she needed to. The only time she laid down was to sun bathe. I’m def going to take her out tomorrow for some sun and hope she starts to improve again. I’ve had to deal with chicken illness before but I’ve never messed up like this. Def kicking myself a bit. Especially with how good she was doing today.

I just did a middle of the night check and she seems to be sleeping, still standing in the corner but not falling over like last night. The heat lamp is still on but it’s up pretty high and she seems comfortable. I did just lightly check her crop and it hasn’t emptied. It is 2:30 in the morning so I’ll give her some more time but she hasn’t eaten a ton since this all happened over 24 hour ago. She’s had a little bit of crumbles, some egg yoke and water mixed in as well as some water from a dropper. She really wasn’t drinking a ton yesterday without me giving it to her by dropper. I have heard noises coming from her that kind of sound like a noise that comes from my stomach when it’s empty and I’m really hungry…if that makes sense. I’ve never heard her make that noise before. It kind of sounds like it was from her crop. When I get up in the morning and check her crop and if it’s still not empty could I be dealing with sour crop or an impaction? It was bigger and squishy during the day. It’s a little smaller now and still squishy but I just want to keep my eye on it. Without messing with her too much or hurting her further what should I do or be looking for in the morning? I just don’t want this to be another big problem to ignore. I also want to be careful what I do with her as she’s fragile right now. I’ll be going back to sleep now as she seems pretty content sleeping in the corner. I want to make sure she gets her sleep but I’ll check here when I get up incase anyone has read this. Thank you all for the support during this ordeal!! Picture of her sleeping. Even though she still won’t lay down she’s not falling over repeatedly like last night. I have that crate there for support buts she really not using it. After I too this photos she tucked her head ondee her wing.
