Did I just hurt my chicken with permethrin 10?!?

I read on some chicken groups and saw a video on line how people used permethrin soaks on their flocks. She is acting weak. I have her under a heat lamp. I was thinking of a warm water soak but I’m afraid it will be too much. I’m go I feel absolutely terrible right now!

Please do not get chicken advice from Facebook poultry groups. Most mean well, but others don't know squat but will tell you what to do. The best advice is from a vet or here.

Permethrin powder is what most here use. I'd try that next time. You can dust them with it and sprinkle the entire coop with it.

I could be just lucky, but I'm yet to experience mites or lice. they eek me out so much that I use prevention to the hilt. Once I found a use for all the lemon balm growing around my place, it gets used regularly. I prune the long canes and hang them in the coop to dry, which takes only days, then crush and liberally sprinkle through bedding. It smells amazing.

Is that a 250 watt lamp? What is the temperature in the coop? Can she get away from the heat if she is too hot? You can turn it off if she is mostly dry. They will hold wings out from body and pant if they are overheated.

Has anyone ever had a chicken react negatively to permethrin 10 soak? I found mites on a hen and soaked her for one min diluting 1.5 oz in just over a gallon of water. She’s standing as if she’s sick and walking slow and funny and hanging out in the corner of the room. She’s also moving her neck back and forth in a funny way. Is that just because she’s wet or did I just do more damage? Have you ever heard of it being toxic to them? I’m so freaked out that I hurt her.

I'd work on getting her through shock. Give her sugar water (1tsp sugar to 1cup of water) or if you have electrolytes you can use those.

Hopefully she'll come around.

I found them crawling around her vent and under her wings. Her vent has some scabs on it

I just checked on her and she was walking around for a min but she just won’t lay down. She keeps almost falling over when she sleeps. She’s pretty much dry and I moved the heat lamp much further up but it’s about 68 degrees in the room.

It’s 7:30am here and she’s still alive. She’s actually more awake now. Not sure if she’s a little better or because it’s morning. But she won’t lay down. She hasn’t all night. She’s walking a little too. But she keeps jerking her neck back and fourth as well as stumbling over when she falls asleep standing. I’m wondering if the permethrin did some neurological damange. Or could it have burned her skin and that’s why she’s uncomfortable and won’t lay down? She did eat a good bit of egg yoke with some 911 electrolyte water mixed in as well as some black soldier fly larvae.

I’m also worried about the permethrin residue on her. The smell is still very strong and I’m not sure what she’s acting this way. I don’t know if she’s in pain and that’s why she won’t even lay down. Or is this something neurological with the permethrin getting into her system? I cannot find anything anywhere about a chicken acting this way after permethrin. I’ve even read on this website of people doing soaks, similar to what I did as well as the spray and spray powder. I just wish I knew what to do.
