The heat bearing down on them is trapped .No air movement with sides. No cool air.They need both.Totes can be very dangerous.Just saying...You're a good chicky mom no worries.We have faith in you.
Thank you! We elevated the heat lamp a bit, and the AC is on in the office. They are also not raising their wings, huddling in corners, or panting.

I've made walls out of cardboard boxes for baby chicks so they had more room.They do better when they have a cool and warm side so they don't get too hot when they run and play.
 
It is heating only half of the container, and the temperature is at a steady 95 degrees.
I see you live down the road from me. If these were my chicks, inside my house, this time of year I wouldn't have an actual heat lamp on them at all. Maybe a regular old school light bulb but probably nothing at all. It's plenty warm enough here to not need added heat.
95 is too hot, in my opinion.
