Did I kill my chicken by force-feeding it peppers?

Quote: pumpkin seed..

At first we fed it as a remedy for piggies. Trying to stay natural. Being told it was a natural de wormer.
After fall ends and all the pumpkin stands give away tons and tons of unsold pumpkins. We take advantage of that annually.
We give a trailer load of these massive orange toy/food for a week straight. Fun to watch the 500# beasts roll around and earn the PRIZE within the rolling toy.
Needless to say we had a intestinal parasite out break once shortly after consuming 900 lbs of so called Nature's cure for worms.
We used Ivernmectin to remedy the dangerous situation.
We still collect pumpkins annually but now just as food purposes.. And exercise!
NOT CLAIMING IT IS FACT. this is an opinion. Everyone is entitled to one. Don't wish to be ambushed by the Hard Core Organic People anymore.

OMG. I'm sure you had the best of intentions but I cannot imagine that force feeding anything cayenne pepper would be a good thing! Honestly, if you wouldn't do it to your child, don't do it to an animal. I've noticed that it seems to be perfectly acceptable to try a whole lot of this sort of home-cure stuff on chickens. Why is that? Is it because they're cheap to buy and so not worth taking to the vet?? You can get a puppy for free, but you'd still take it to the vet if it was sick, wouldn't you? It's just not acceptable imo to experiment with cures on animals, whether they're horses, cats, chickens or mice. At the VERY least, call and check with your vet before trying a "cure".
