I have had a chicken soaking in salt water for about 24 hours in the fridge. I had planned on cooking it yesterday so I put it in the salt water yesterday afternoon to soak for a bit, and then our plans changed and it didn't get cooked yesterday. I didn't cover it with plastic wrap either (duh!!) so the top of it that is not in the water is quite red. Do you think it will still be ok to cook, or am I better off tossing it and starting over?

If it was me, to be on the safe side, I would toss it. I hate to throw food out, but I don't want to be sick!

Thanks. I will toss it and start over. I would hate to have for our 2nd try to be as bad or worse than our 1st try to eat our chicken.

If it's been in the fridge I wouldn't worry - go ahead and cook it!
I notice you salt your chickens before you cook them - is this the normal thing you do?

Interesting, with store bought chickens as well?
