I was laying in my bed this morning when I heard a loud shrill noise coming from the dining room, where my chicks were staying. It sounded like Cock-a-doodle-do but all high pitched and totally out of tune. Now I’d been hoping for ONE boy for breeding next year, but when I went out and saw my chick, TERRY do it many times, I realised I had predicted my other chick, HEIHEI, to be the roo. So I’m guessing this is a cockerel trying to crow? All chicks are same age, born on March 28th 2018.

(Also my dog felt the need to crow with Terry so now I’m wide awake, and not from the chick!)

When one of our boys first started crowing, it was 10 at night. We thought that our hen Miss Cluck was slowly dying! That crow was really funny.

My pictures aren’t loading that well right now so I’ll try later, but I’m fearing that I have two boys out of my three. The third I’m 99% sure is a girl. How would you tell? Crest? Saddle feathers?

Edit to add: When I posted the picture actually loaded with it somehow so there’s the one who crowed.

aaah... Polish. They're difficult to sex. When they get to 12 weeks you can sex with their saddle feathers, as that's when they go through puberty.
Oh, did I forget to mention they are polish? haha, sorry! So yes, I'm waiting for June so they can be sexed.
