Did these eggs come from the same chicken?

All awesome information, thank you. I haven't checked pelvic bones....

Unfortunately, I ended up having to come to work today with a raging case of bronchitis so my plan to do vigilant coop watching went right out the window. I have, however, convinced my husband to check every 2 hours so we can narrow down a better timeframe to keep an eye out over the weekend. Silly girls, I just want to know who is leaving us gifts!

Couple tips as I've just got my first eggs as well and managed to identify the week it would happen and which chickens. Mind you, all this is from this site as I was obsessed with knowing when they would start:

- Look at their combs and wattles. They grow bigger and turn red when they are maturing and getting ready to lay. Easy for me to identify, I got two eggs on the first day and two of my girls have wattles and combs that are larger than the others.

- The squat test. Go to put your hand on each chicken in turn. The younger ones run away, the ones ready to lay will squat down. Any that squat, you will have eggs from in the next week or so if they haven't started already.

All of mine are squatting and have big and red combs and wattles-that's why it's so challenging :)

That said, I think I found our culprit-I've been down by the coop all morning pulling weeds and my Dominique is in the nesting box while the other three are playing in the run. She was the first to squat so it makes sense to me. I am still not sure if we have a 2nd layer but we should know soon enough.

Still warm, Mabel the Dominique it is!!

Edited to add: So much for an egg song, she was completely silent! I'm sure my neighbors appreciate that, however

I just love finding the really warm ones...especially in winter, hand warmers.
