Did they kill it?

Awww, what cuties

Awww, what cuties!!! ❤ Maybe look at their feet when you get them out of the incubator to see if walking around a little has straightened them out? If not, you may need to do some splinting...

My dogs woke me up to go outside, so I figured I’d check the little ones and see how they are doing.
Thankfully like you said, their toes are uncurling it looks like from the walking around. 😊 The two look great. The third is still horribly shrink wrapped 😞 I put more oil on and took a little bit of membrane away from its face. It’s pushing around a little, but chews every so often. I take that to mean it still needs time. I don’t think it will be able to get out without help at this point. I’ll check it again in a few hours when I get up. I really hope I don’t lose this one.

The last one need a bit more help. By the time I woke up this morning he wasn’t chewing anymore and looked exhausted.
I took off more shell and gently peeled off the membrane that was stuck to it. After a little bit it just popped itself out!

You can see that I had to remove about half the shell.
It’s now drying out with one of its siblings for company. I moved the other Keet whose feet are mostly straightened out, into the brooder with the first hatched Keet.

You’ve done a fantastic job assisting these little ones! Yes, they won’t get out on their own if they’re shrink wrapped so it’s good you helped. Do you have more eggs due to hatch?

Looks to me like the last one was not only shrink wrapped but also over sized meaning it was too big to be able to even zip on its own.

Thank you! It’s been exhausting worrying about these little guys. And having the inner struggle of deciding if my help was needed or if I was being too pushy. No eggs due to hatch just yet. Those four were the only ones I had that made it to hatch.
Next will be the 10 from the coop. They are adding 4 eggs each day from what I’ve seen.

Thank you, that is reassuring that I wasn’t being overly aggressive helping it. I really didn’t want to sit and watch it die. But being my first hatch I really didn’t know what to expect or what help Id need to give. I really appreciate the help you both have given me. It’s been an interesting experience for sure!
