Did you use it for your chickens?

Whoa marked way down!!....but...I'd rather spend the $25 on a heating pad and get twice the brooder heater space.

Or for the same price, you can get this:

Attach it to a wire frame, and have an infinitely adjustable MHP cave that is 12" x 15" AND it will successfully brood chicks in freezing temps. AND YOU CAN USE IT AS A HEATING PAD WHEN YOU'RE DONE USING IT AS A BROODER. (MACHINE WASHABLE)

I bought 2 plates for my chicks when I got them last year. Worked well, but I did have them in a heated garage so don’t know how it would work outside. I slanted mine so they could be touching it at the short end or have space above at the taller end. They did like to get on top too.

The EcoGlow is for brooding in an already heated space or warm weather. It requires an ambient temperature of 50F or above. That ruled it out for me and I used lamps until Blooie's post came along. I much prefer to brood out where the chicks will be living as chickens and the DIY model works perfectly for that. I spent a whopping $13 on a 12x15 pad and made a frame with junk I hadn't thrown out yet. I now have a heating product that's more flexible than the linked product at a fraction of the price.

In short, if you will always put chicks in your house and want something prefab that won't spin your electric meter, do it. But if you have time and inclination, DIY beats all.
