I bought some DE online from a place called Dirt works. They were somewhat expensive on shipping. Asked my co-op if they carried it they said "What's that, never heard of it". So does anyone have a suggestion where I can buy it? Online is fine, I'm in Portland Tn. It's doubtful anyone here would carry it in a feed store.

When I called my feed store, they had never heard of it either. However, one day I happened to be at the store when the supplier came in and she knew all about it. Now the store gets it for me whenever I need it at 50# for only $28. So when you are at the coop, ask to talk to the person who does the ordering and have them check with their supplier. I'll bet they can get it.

My (2)local feed stores do not carry it, so I went to another a bit farther away. The girl behind the counter had not heard of 'food grade' DE, but went ahead and called their other store and found that they had a 50# bag in stock. Even there, they weren't sure about the food grade stuff, but a quick look at the bag will tell. It will say "Chemical Codex Food Grade". They were nice enough to have someone bring it over so that I would not have to drive even further. Now they will order it for me whenever I need it. My next thing to do is take the empty bag to my local feed store and see if they can start ordering it.

I always say befriending the feed store folks is always in your best interest!
