I'm looking for some physical difference between these two breeds (other than size) that will help to make a determination as to what kind of geese I have.

I think the Chinese have a longer neck and less of a dew lap than the Africans as well as the size difference...can you post a photo?

they are Chinese...the Africans have shorter, thicker necks and more of a dewlap...and they are just thicker...none of the Africans on feather site have the white barring while two of my five Chinas do...the two teenage pair I bought from a private party had no Africans and raised them from eggs...

it is a production china or african cross. (african or china doesn't matter as the production birds of either breed are virtually the same) Probably crossed with production embden as evidenced by that white stripe and the orange on the bottom of the bills.

none of the Africans on feather site have the white barring while two of my five Chinas do

both production africans/chinas and exhbition african/china have the white lacing on the end of their feathers and also usually around the knob. The only stripe that doesn't belong is that big white one on their chests.

Definitely Chinese crosses. Much too long and thin to be African. I have to disagree that all production birds look the same. I have "production" Africans and they are much shorter and thicker. They aren't exhibition quality, but they aren't nearly so upright as the Chinese in these pictures. I agree that the barring on the chest indicates a cross.

So what you are saying is that if they were "pure," their bills would be solid black without a trace of any other coloring as in pure African or pure China?
Not that it matters to me, but I'm just trying to understand why production birds, sold as either of these breeds, have other breeds crossed into them.
And I do understand that the white chest stripe is not supposed to be there.

One thing I am fairly certain is that they are male and female as their behaviors confirm that.

If they were to produce, and assuming they have another breed in there, would the offspring look similar to the parents or would I get a completely different looking goose?
