Difference between RIR and NHR?

I was wondering what the difference is between the Rhode Island Reds and the New Hampshire Reds? Is there any at all or is it the same breed from different areas?

RIR are much, much darker--they almost look black.

The real difference is color, as mentioned. Strains vary, this one lays more than that one, etc. Taken together the edge will go to the RIR, but not by much.

I prefer the coloring of the Hamps, myself.
