Difference in RIR chickens

Some of mine look good quality and some don't.
So should I breed my darkest hens to my darkest Roo.
Other then color what is the difference in stock.

With the few I've had, the breeder quality dark RIRs are larger, taller birds than the hatchery birds. Yes, I'd breed your darkest to your darkest to improve the color.

The show quality rhode island red are much darker than utility RIR. Rhode Island red can be single or rose combed.

could you tell me where to get a good rir? i sent to one place and got 15 peeps, but am not pleased with the ones i got, three have no feathers never has, just fuzz. i sent them picture of my three peeps and they replied when i get another order they would put in three, i did not think they handled it very good. and the sex links are not good looking, i had got some from tractor supple and they are doing great and look very good.but i was told that is all they sell.
