this is my tailed araucana hen Sparrow. am i correct in that tailed araucanas have crests instead of ear tufts? this is the main type available in Australia, i haven't seen many ear tufted ones here although we do get rumpless.

She is gorgeous!! And I do know that Aussie Araucanas are crested and usually tailed, but I can't remember if they are *supposed* to have muffs/beard... anyway, she is a beautiful Araucana! :)

very shiny and healthy looking too

Shes an extreme forager. I have to keep her in the coop twice a week to make her eat enough grain and shell to stop her eggs being porous as she wont eat it. Prefers to free range. It must be all the bugs she catches. You should see her hoping around the yard after them.

Don't put salt in the water when you hardboil eggs and give that to her to drink... did that for a couple of my banty's and it worked great... :)

My araucana hen generally lays a green/light olive egg. Todays lay was delayed as i was trying a new nest box and she hates it. Her egg today was spearmint. Has she relayered it without the brown layer do you think?
