actually she is a pretty easter egger. You could get an ameraucana for her or an easter egger, all offspring would be ee's though

I don't think the hatcheries would even attempt anything similar to a true araucana, with the fatal tufting gene they would have too much loss.....IMO

You know she's an Easter Egger, and not either Araucana or Ameraucana, right?

Also, good luck on finding Araucanas. . .

They're very rare, as neither of the two breeds are found at hatcheries.

She's most like an Ameraucana though, to answer your question. No EE sold at hatcheries is like an Araucana.

There is a someone on here that had them but I guess I don't need araucana. I need an americana roo since that is more what she is and looks like.

Thank you!

there are actually quite a few breeders of both araucana and ameraucana HERE, just not the hatcheries as illia was saying. You should be able to find a roo pretty easy, a lot of people give them away on here....

It is the first link in the Breed Discussion Sticky.

No, the lethal tufted problem is only on tufted x tufted bird. And it's only 25% of the offspring. The real problem is that since hatcheries don't watch what they breed, they'll lose the tufts and have an increase in tails really fast. Also, their colors will smudge together and you'll get, well, . . . EE looking birds. Tailed, tuftless, weird hodge-podge colored birds with green, yellow, and possibly willow colored legs.

Also, Araucanas are a challenge to keep fertility and hatch rates high, also the birds probably won't do too well in the conditions hatcheries have their parent stcok at.

I have araucana, I do know the percentages

. I was just saying that a breed that doesn't have great fertility and has a lethal gene to complicate things further is just not worth it from a business standpoint

any loss doesn't help achieve a profit....

I do know that she is a ee since from the hatchery.
