Hi guys, I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but here goes...

What is the difference between penciled feathers and double laced feathers?
What does the color partridge mean?
And does splash mean they are lighter? Or something else?

This Link will show you everything you need to know between Pencilled and double laced

Secondary Pattern Genes

http://www.edelras.nl/chickengenetics/mutations1.html#gen_mut_secpattern the creator is a very dear friend of mine.

now I will try to explain what is the Partridge color..

a Partridge pattern based bird is just a wildtype bird(has all of its genes wildtype) with the eb brown e allele as the only non wildtype gene, if you were to exchange this eb allele for the wildtype e+ e allele the birds would be what you call wildtype or black breasted Reds, infact the males do look black breasted red if they are based on gold ofcourse, but would look like silver duckwing if they are based on Silver, the ONLY difference between them is found only on the Females, partridge females lacks the salmon breast found on wildtype females like the Welsummer pullets

partridge genotype is eb/eb s+/s+ pg+/pg+ ml+/ml+ co+/co+
pencilled genotype is eb/eb s+/s+ Pg/Pg ml+/ml+ co+/co+
double laced genotype is be eb/eb s+/s+ Pg/Pg Ml/Ml co+/co+
Single Laced genotype is eb/eb s+/s+ Pg/Pg Ml/Ml Co/Co

Thanks.
I know splash in blue chickens is an expression of two blue genes, but is splash only for blue birds or is there such thing as splash that is not blue?
Splash is also used for double Dun gene, you see one copy of dun will modify the black pigment to a Dun/Chocolate color, but two color will produce a Splash like appearance, almost white but with some specks,

the Dun gene is different from blue as is located on the i allele, where i+ is regular black, and I is dominant white, and I^D is for Dun as is a mutation of dominant white. it behaves like blue as it produces splash, dun(chocolate) and black if you cross two duns..
