Differences in skin color?

I just butchered and plucked my first two chickens, and I'm startled at how different they look from each other now. One has pink skin, the other looks yellow.

Is this just a difference in the amount of fat each has? (I know fat is yellow.) Or is it something else?

Just taking a five minute break to get the cramp out of my fingers before I go back to get rid of those miniscule pinfeathers...

Skin color varies from breed to breed, and if they are the same breed, remember that hatcheries cross breed them all the time. You will see differences in meat birds from batch to batch because of breeding techniques as well. If they ate the same things, they will probably have about the same amount of fat.
