I'm planning on hatching quite a few chicks this year, and I'm pretty sure that I'm going to run out of brooders if I put each incubation into different ones. I'm thinking of starting chicks in glass tanks for the first few days, and then transitioning them into the brooders. They will all be about 2 weeks apart. There may be some bantams and I'll probably keep those separate from everyone else because they'll grow out into a different coop and I wouldn't want them to get trampled.
Any tips, tricks, and ideas?
Thanks,
Madie

Two weeks apart my be pushing it to combine them. I would split the brooder in half with chicken wire so they can see no touch for a week or two then they may be ok. The bigger ones may pick on or peck at the smaller ones with that age difference. Others may have other experiences with this to help.

I have roughly the same question and would appreciate hearing from folks who have brooded chicks of different ages together. My 8 chicks, too, will be about two weeks difference in age -- 4, then 2 five days later, then 2 9 days later than that. I don't expect peck order issues so young and am thinking mostly about heat -- making sure the new arrivals are warm enough while the slightly older chicks also are comfortable. Anything else to be thinking about?
