different breeds coexisting?????

Yep,
I have big and small, dark and light, chicks and old birds, and they all seem to know that they are chickens, but that is about all!

I have at least 12 different breeds living together

I plan on crossing them all, making wonderful little mutts!

They should all be fine, just raise the Sumatra carefully or they'll be wild! Here is mine!

I have 15 chicks that are about 2 days old. I am not sure their breed but almost every one is different and they seem to get along fine so far.

I guess mine get together cause I raised most of them together, except for the banty roo, but he holds his own.

. There is a ton of great chicken information here and lots of nice friendly folks too.

I don't know anything about chantecler or the sumatra, but all the others you mentioned are of similar temperament and behavior. I selected all of mine for color and calmness. So far it seems to be working. I have a Barred Rock, Light Brahma, two EE's and two cochin (one of whom turned out to be a rooster -- know anyone in need of a sweet cochin rooster?

Enjoy your chicks -- and handling them will help calm down the more flighty ones.

I have Barred Rocks, Ameraucanas, and Cuckoo Marans....I handled them a lot and they are all pretty tame and get along great with each other.
