I'm pretty sure your roo is a black mf, his beard looks black, when it should be mahogany. Very pretty birds, I just love the d'uccles. They are the sweetest birds I have.

I think the papa is a close true black MFD...but not 100%. Still tho he looks nice, if he only had the white tipped tail feathers, THEN you would have yourself a great black MFD breed maker

the pictures i have seen of black d'uccles were pure black with white specks though? i was sold the trio as mille fleur (from a breeder who has lots of them) she didnt say he was black? should the chick grow up to look like his dad?

heres a few new photos, the others are a few months old, hes grown in new feathers since then and it looks like he does have white tips to his tail, and closer up photos of his beard
