Different Color Eggs from the Same Breed

I bought two Barred Rock chicks the same day. One lays a very light brown egg, the other lays a rich brown with a shiny bloom. Just shows the same breed doesn't necessarily lay the same shade.

Just because they are the same breed or both brown egg layers doesn't mean they will have the same color egg. I have a Welsummer and occasionally she will have a very heavy bloom on her eggs that makes them look almost purple, but they are normally terracotta brown. Also as they progress through their laying cycle the "paint booth" starts to run out of paint so the shade of there eggs changes a bit.
