I have 9 buttons, (3 trios) and was wondering If I could put them all together. They seem kind of bored, and I think they would like it for if I took the dividers out of their cage, so they could run a little more, and maybe fly a little.

My question is, if I do put them all together will I still get normal colors, or will I get screwed up colors, that arent really anything.

I have

3 Blueface
3 Goldens
and 3 "Smokeys" (Although Im not sure they are.)

If I bred all of these together, would I still get colors, or would I end up with weird mixes?

I dont care if they breed with the different colors, but WHEN they do, will I get true colors?

Don't know about that, just don't understand the "vote for Anne" thing. Tell me more about it and maybe I'll vote!

I would not allow them to run together they will fight and gamebirds do not fight nice. As for the colors very very few button quail breed true. You said you have a trio of golden pearls, smokey thou you are not sure my guess is they are slate and blueface nice groups do you have pictures? I would hatch a few from each group and see what colors you get I bet you will be suprised.
Recessive colors
Silver, white, cinnamon/fawn, red breasted, splash
Dominant colors
Normal wild color, blue face (both double and single factors), golden pearl (single factor only)

Button Quail....I raised them for a couple of years with my Parrots.

I had both Silvers and browns.
they are interesting and fun to see running nad jumping around.

that said, you can't control their mating if you remove the dividers.
as for normal colors they hatch out normal regardless of parents. (brown brown, silver, brown.)
I have no idea about second generation though, as all my babies were sold before they hatched.
So I never had 2nd generation birds to play with.
