Last night I shot and killed a wild hog. Took it back home, hung it up, and started cleaning it. As I was cleaning this hog, my girlfriend pulls up and sits down while I was cleaning this pig. This pig was a sow, and had just came off a litter of youngins, and still had a swaller or two of milk in her teets.

My girlfriend says, "Betcha you wont drink some of that milk....."

The phrases, "I dare you..." and "Betcha you wont..." have always been my downfall, and my girlfriend knows it. The girl does know how to manipulate me.

She handed me an empty water bottle, and I squeezed a few squirts of this pig milk into the bottle. I did manage to up the bet to $10, telling her that she'll never find anybody else to drink it for less than that. She didnt' argue.

Pig milk is a bit bitter tasting. I wouldn't recommend it. But I'd still drink warm pig milk before I drank buttermilk.

After pocketing my $10, (She makes more than me, so yes, I will take her money!) my girlfriend and I had a lengthy conversation about some of the critters I've ate in my life. I dont remember too many meals growing up that didn't involve deer, wild hog or crawdads. But occassionally we partook in possum, beaver, raccoon, carp, and an armadillo or two.

Some of our cafes around here serve calf brains with eggs. Not too filling for me, and if I eat em, I gotta add Tabasco.

Lamb and calf testicles are pretty common here too. Thing is, they slice em too thin, then wanna charge an outrageous amount for em. They are great to eat though!

What about the rest of yall? What have yall eaten that isn't something walmart generally carries? I'm always wanting to try something new!

When I was a teen my family went fishing and either my mom or uncle caught a whopping turtle. They brough it home and processed it and my mother cooked it. All I can say is

Once in a while, I still get funny looks from people when I say how much I love sushi and sashimi, especially raw salmon. But that's becoming more conventional.

I never got to like them, but most other members of the German side of my family loved these strong, salty licorice candies referred to as "salmies." I found an entry about them on Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salty_liquorice

In
terms of "different kinds of animals" I've eaten, I think the one which hasn't been mentioned thus far is Kangaroo. There is a Brazilian churrascaria called Green Field where I ate a few times years ago. There was a hot and cold buffet set up, and they'd come around with skewers of roasted meat (including all kinds of unusual wild game). The kangaroo was served as a stew in the hot buffet. It tasted similar to lamb, but was not quite as tender.
