Different manufacturer of Purina Duck Pellet Feed? 50 lb bag. different listed ingredients.

Yes I contacted purina earlier today to ask them about the animal protein just to know what that is.
Yeah it doesn't list the amount in the guaranteed analysis. I see that it's in the ingredients after zinc oxide.
That is very strange that Purina would make an "off brand" product like that and sell it like it was the other. It does not seem as good as the duck pellets according to the tag I posted.

I haven't heard from Purina yet. Maybe they'll reply within 2 days.
When I first tried giving them the pellets they didn't eat it. I tried also breaking a pellet into smaller pieces but they didn't want it. I let it soak in water and the most recent time I checked on them and put some of the food on my hand they started eating it and out of the bowl for a couple mouthfuls. I think the animal protein whatever it is, they aren't fond of. If it has liver in it I could see why. I don't personally like the smell or taste of liver.
I have't placed the smell of the feed exactly but I think it resembles organ meats like liver. Has like an animal or barnyard sort of smell. Or dog/cat kibble smell.
The feed tag I noticed doesn't say Purina but the Arden Hills location I think is also the same location Purina makes their food. And the bag itself is red and white and says Purina on it.

There was another thread I read mentioning more about Country Acres and Purina. Something about another company and livestock.

I think the feed store has a good return policy so I'll probably return it and get something else. They have Purina flock raiser crumbles so I'll check to make sure that it is the actual brand this time. Either that or could drive to the nearest tractor supply company.

Maybe not liver. Not sure about the smell of the feed. Reminds me of something. The smell has gone down since the bag was opened. Turns out returns are only for dog and cat food. The ducks are eating the feed so I guess I'll just keep feeding them this feed and get another feed to switch between until they run out of this feed.
This is from purina's article on animal by products.
In dry food, by-product meal is a common ingredient. By-product meal can include organ meats and other edible parts of an animal, such as tissues and bones.

These are rendered cooked to eliminate bacteria, evaporate water and separate protein from fat. “Meals” are ground down to create a uniform size and shape.

Animal by-products are the co-products of food ingredients, including parts of an animal not usually used in the U.S. human food chain, such as the heart or liver, but which can provide important nutritional benefits.

Though the duck pellets doesnt say by product it just says animal protein. Might be chicken meal maybe.
I took a picture of the feed bag now just so you guys can see what it looks like. On the sides it say the slogan, Feed Greatness.

So the animal ingredients I've been told by someone from Purina is porcine meat bone meal.
And I was able to get a refund for the duck pellets done by the store itself.
The feed they have been on now is flock raiser crumbles since the local store does not carry pellets of it. I do have Manna Pro still so I'm mixing that with the flock raiser and rolled oats.
I'm not sure about getting Manna Pro again because of the price. I might try pellets again but just a small bag at first and get that at a tractor supply store.
