Is it normal for a chicken to have different sized wattles?
I have a 5 month old Silver laced Wyandotte hen whose wattles are growing at different speeds, it seems. Her left wattle looks about the same size as the other hens her age, but her right wattle is a little less than half the length of the other. Otherwise, she seems healthy in every way. Both wattles are bright red with nothing to indicate any problem except the different sizes. She hasn't started laying yet, but she is showing the signs that she is close, such as squatting and her rose comb is thick and full and bright red.
So, should I be concerned that one wattle is shorter than the other?
Thanks!
