Different skin on 1 of 9 new chicks

This is different of my 9 recently hatched chicks. I had to pull this one out of incubator before completely dried because it was dragging another hatching egg around by it’s leg and the beak was bleeding in which I did have to peal away the shell but health and good looking but the skin of the one I had to pull out is not fluffing even after a few days. I have bathed it twice drying with hairdryer but nothing really changed. Posting pic

Are you referring to the skin or the feathers/down?

I guess the feathers but maybe a skin issue

When I help a chick hatch the down if often matted down. If the chick hatches naturally the down dries fluffy but when I remove the shell it doesn't. I think that is what you are seeing.

One time I rinsed the chick off in warm water and put it back in the incubator to dry. I gave that hatch to a broody hen to raise. She took that chick and raised it with the others. In about a week the down cleared up, I could no longer tell which chick it had been.

I suggest giving it some time. That's what I did and it worked.

Cute story I should’ve thought about the incubator. It was a good idea but this chick wasn’t the one I helped it was the one I pulled out early because it was picking at the one in the shell. This is a pic of the one I assisted and the feathers are well fluffed.

Update….finally decided to give baby a dust bath. Could not find any mites or lice but was still disturbed over feather. And I love the results. Conclusion……
I decided because of the lack of time in the incubator, the oils needed to be dried up. Feel good about the results.
