what are some different ways on to sex golden coturnix quail thanks

breast feathers:
hens:

Roo (blush on throat cocoa colored ONLY when in breeding plumage, which needs to be under 14 hours of light a day for that to happen):

foam checking (only works if roo is breeding age... 6-8 weeks old and under 14 hours of light a day otherwise they all look the same..):


crowing (roos only):


Roos only crow, only foam, and only have the cococa colored thraot when in breeding condition othewise they are quiet for the most part, so its best to go off the breast feathers....rust for roos, spotted for hens.

Btw the color has nothing to do with sexing... browns are sexed the same way a coturnix is a coturnix is a coturnix. Told ya this already LOL.

My goldens were already getting that cocoa throat at 3 weeks. Funny thing is some of those with that coloring also had a lot of chest spots. I may have to grab them and get some decent pictures.
