Different weight loss between eggs in same incubator? (Help please!)

Hi,

I'm incubating my first 3 chicken eggs in the RCOM Mini incubator! I am now at day 15, and yesterday I candled and re-weighed the eggs. Till now one appears to have lost 10% of it's original weight whilst the other two have lost 9% and 8%.


Setting weight 7 day weight 14 day weight Total loss till now

Egg 1 67g 64g 61g 8.9%

Egg 2 66g 62g 59g 10.1%

Egg 3 65g 62g 60g 7.7%



Is this variability in weight loss normal when all eggs are incubated together?? These were shipped eggs.

I have not weighed my eggs before but have noticed that the air cells in some become larger than others. I doubt it's a problem but will be an interesting thing for you to document. Possibly parts of you incubator have more air flow than others or more heat, etc.

Its normal. Go by the average.

it depends on location in the incubator (proximity to heat source and / or fan) as well as the porosity of the egg shell.. more porous shells lose moisture faster
