I have worked with some great egg shippers. I'm having trouble with a transaction right now and wondered if I could pick your brains?

On July 28, I contacted a gal I've bought from on eggbid once before. (She did a great job in the past transaction.) This time it was not an eggbid transaction. I asked her if she had eggs available to send me to put under my broody hen ASAP, she said "yes, I can ship tomorrow."

On Aug 2, she wrote and said she was late sending, had not been able to gather enough eggs to ship, but would the following day.

Today is Aug 7, so when they didn't come today, I told her I was worried that they were out there in the heat too long and would she make this right to me *if* they don't come by tomorrow.

She kinda threw a fit, then calmed down and told me she would ship another batch (free eggs, but express shipping at my expense). She did not purchase tracking confirmation for the late eggs and she has not actually said whether she has a receipt for the shipping at all.

I don't want to be unreasonable, but I've had this little broody hen waiting on these eggs for 11 days as of tomorrow, which feels like an outside limit to me, and I'm getting upset.

What would you all do?

I'm a little cranky today so keep that in mind

I would ask for the tracking number on the late eggs. If she doesnt have one then she owes you eggs with no additional cost, shipping or otherwise.

Cause it sounds to me like she didnt ship any eggs to begin with so why should you have to pay twice for a service that so far you havent gotten anything out of.

Just my humble, cranky opinion

I just had a lady yell at me because she told me the post office held her eggs and she didn't know they were there. I gave her a tracking number and everything, she was very rude. Never bothered to call her post office, just sent me nasty e-mails.

But come to find out, the post office did not hold her eggs and they delivered them on Wednesday and they have been setting out in the sun at her house for two days.

She told me a bold faced lie! I told her at this point it was not my problem and I would not do any further business with her.

Generally in a situation like this I would offer to replace the eggs for shipping, but when you lie..............

ETA: Ask her for the tracking number. There is no proof she ever mailed you any eggs.

It sounds like she hasn't shipped the eggs yet. If she shipped USPS Priority, which she should have, she would have a tracking number.

I have shipped eggs all over the country via USPS Priority Mail - it has never taken more than 2 days, even 3000 miles.

I think you are being very nice about it. I understand hens can stop laying, but she should communicate with you - and not say she shipped them 5 days ago. I just don't believe they've been shipped.

I did ask for the tracking number and she told me she doesn't have it. I asked if she has a Priority Mail (or any mail service receipt to my address) and she didn't respond.

Sigh. I've been calling my little PO every day. They know me there anyway and would call me if they got the eggs.

Thing is, she is the only person in well, the world, that has these eggs, so I've been walking on eggshells with her.

I've told her I'll give it till tomorrow, but then I'm gonna puff myself up and be downright...curt?

Thank you all for your thoughts. Sometimes it is hard to know how far to trust people and when to drop the patient thing. At least for me.

Just one more thing...can negative feedback be left on eggbid for a transaction that took place outside of their auction system? I've done an auction with her before, but maybe that is non-relevant?

Did the first batch of eggs you bought from her have a tracking number? If it did and this batch does not, that would make me think that they were just not sent.

No, she didn't do tracking with the 1st batch either. Something I will always require from now on, for sure.
