Digging a chicken grave in winter

Before you tell me to dispose of the chicken in some other way, I know I can. But this is my son's pet and he doesn't want it in the trash and there's no room in the freezer to keep it until spring. That said...

Any tips for digging a chicken grave in snow covered, frozen ground? I've read about pouring boiling water on the ground or starting a charcoal fire in the location first. Have any of you done this? Wondering how long it would take to get the ground soft enough.
 
I am having the same problem. We bury all our pets. We have a chick that needs buried right now.

No, but I knew of someone who used wood fires to dig a pond in winter.
It took numerous fires and digging sessions.
How long it would take would depend on where you live and how tenacious you are.
