Dilema - when my chickens are outside they get frostbite and when they are inside they peck each oth

Thanks for your replys about the frostbite. Fortunately, my run is quite protected from the wind, so I'm hoping for the best.
I did read on a thread somewhere, that there is something other than vasoline that works good., but not a clue where to find it.

I'll just add that my hens are 21 weeks old and only the Black Australorp has what looks like a full grown wattles and comb.

Just a thought for coop situation, look into something warm birds can stand on. Reducing cold stress will make so the can distribute more blood to extremities. This winter I will play around with one of those dog pads to see if they take advantage of it.
