Dill's Giant Atlantic pumpkin diary

The pumpkins sure are looking good guys!!!!! As you know I had to start mine all over again. So I took R2elk’s advice and just direct sowed them they were about 6 inches tall this morning. Now only 1 is about 6 inches tall, when I left this morning they were just fine but it got to 85 degrees today and not a cloud in the sky. Well you guessed it 10 of them were burnt really bad. No hope for them so I have more seeds soaking in warm water that I will get in the ground tomorrow. I got the 50% shade cloth out over the last one and will keep it there till this fall. I think I am going crazy trying to grow a giant pumpkin!!!!!

I should but I have the wind and a fan blowing through the greenhouse with the doors open. Not quite the same but it helps.
Yeah, I ended up taking mine outside about a week or so before planting them in the ground. All of the first big leaves were a little sunburnt and torn by the winds but the newest leaves are stronger:

Good luck. Fortunately for you, you have more time left in the fall than I get.
