Diningroom Brooder DH Made For Me, the Crippled Chickenkeeper

Kathy, I have 16 Delawares, 2 Blue Orps and 1 from my famous redheaded Meg (that one was supposed to be Skye's--DH collected them). Had more Orps, but apparently the butt-fluff got way too dense again on those girls, especially Skye after her molt was over, and I didnt think to pluck/trim them again.
Started with 20 shipped Delawares, two never developed and two quit early on.
I think this brooder location will be much better on us, especially my DH's poor back. I know the dust will be bad, but we'll just have to deal with it.

Sounds like a very pretty hatch....Im sure you'll be happy enjoying your babies again.

Great idea for an "easy to get to" brooder. It will be nice to watch them so close by.

We did a test run with the heatlamp. Actually, if it is covered up, the temp goes too high. The only reason there is a cover on the wall side is that my house thermostat is on the wall there and I was afraid it would keep the heat from coming on when it should (usually dont heat with the heatpump, but we ran out of wood).

Great idea!!! Isn't it funny the things we come up with to feed the addiction to hatch and brood!!! lol

I used one of those with cardboard on it to take my babies outside when they were wee little ones.

Hey, is that a Thomas Kinkade print I see there?
