bringing this thread back up cause people got way out of hand with religion, I really hate that. as soon as some talk is started, some jerk always comes in and starts talking about their beliefs and inadvertantly p!$$es someone off! And it gets it into a huge fight. just talk about the topic at hand. if your opinion has nothing to do with the topic than you should definatley stop speaking. The topic is can you breed a dinosaur chicken, post your thoughts below.



please, try not to talk about beliefs or ethnics, its about breeding a dinosaur bird.

I don't think it'd be possible unless you knew a lot about science and had a lab.. IF it could be done by simple selective breeding then i'd expect someone would have created one by now.

I swear when I looked into the eyes of one of my pullets today, it felt like I was in Jurassic Park. Maybe she's getting in touch with her inner T-Rex?

I have a baby chick with a clawed finger on both wings, I wouldn't have known if I didn't get scratched by the one wing and then actually looked at the baby's wings

... So I'm guessing the genes are still present and could easily be brought out.

Keep in mind most breeders would cull a bird with the claws, but this one will stay if it is a girl I just won't hatch any of its eggs.....

I was watching a show... Oh a year or so ago where they were turning on and off various genes in chicken embryos and did get teeth and longer tails.

My baby is a mixed breed roo over a dark brahma hen, so any thing is possible.

My Dutch bantams frequently have the wing claw you mentioned. Sometimes I even have to trim the claw.

I remember the Discovery channel about changing birds to dinosaurs. I was not impressed with their findings.

Lets take for example the Hoxd12 and Hoxd13 genes. These genes are necessary for the development of the digits in a hand or wing.

If I use the methodology and hypothesize in a similar manner as the information presented in the Discovery program, I could turn a mouse embryo into a chicken. Both the mouse and the chicken contain the Hoxd12 and Hoxd13 genes therefore the chicken is a descendant of the mouse.

If information like this is used in a hypothetical way to propose hypothetical mechanisms, I have no problem with the presentation. It is when people take the information and make it fact that I have problems.

By the way, in the previous string; I do not believe the creationist was a jerk. I believe another individual was being argumentative.
