Dip Thread

For a really easy dip:

Dill or Lemon Dill Seasoning - like Cherchie's or Jodie's Dip-idy Dill

mix with sour cream, mayonnaise, yogurt or an equal of amount of all three
chill several hours for the flavors to meld

Another one I made up, good for shrimp or chicken nuggets:

mayonnaise - 1/2 cup
Sweet Chili Sauce - I like Mae Ploy brand - 2-3 TB
Sriracha hot sauce or cayenne pepper for heat - 1 t or more of Sriracha, to taste

And a good replica of Bonefish Grill's Bang Bang Shrimp Sauce:

1/2 cup mayo
3 TB sweet chile sauce
1 TB Sriracha
2 t. rice vinegar

Mix all; chill to blend the flavors. Serve with fried shrimp, popcorn shrimp or chicken or coconut shrimp. The Grill serves the shrimp on a bed of lettuce or is it shredded cabbage? With the sauce on top or on the side? They are famous for this appetizer! Might be good served with cold, boiled shrimp too.

New Orleans Seafood Dip/Spread for Crackers (got this recipe from a local when we lived in Baton Rouge)

1 stick butter (not margarine)
8 ounces softened cream cheese
6 ounces flaked lump crabmeat or salad shrimp
A couple of green onions, finely sliced
1/2 to 1 teaspoon (however much kick you like!) of Tobasco or Crystal hot sauce (I prefer Crystal)

Melt the butter and cream cheese in a microwave-safe bowl & blend together well. Fold in the remaining ingredients & mix well. Return to fridge & let set a few hours.

This is so yummy, it'd taste good schmeared on the bumper of a '72 Ford F150 with mud tires. (Please be sure to use Farmer Lew's southern drawl when you say that, too. Has better effect that way.)

HH - YES! I am making that one today

where are you in the Sierras?

Katy, Bonefish Grill is fantastic! My sons took me there (next town west of me) for my birthday a couple of years ago. We shared the Bang Bang Shrimp and I came home to find a recipe on the web. I've made the fried shrimp and sauce often since then. We shared a dessert and the boys let our server know it was my birthday. Before we left, the manager brought me a small box of wonderful gourmet chocolates from a small company in Asheville NC and wished me a happy birthday. He spent several minutes at our table talking to us and asking how we liked our meal. We had excellent service and our food (fish/seafood) was superb!

this is our family favorite. serve with veggies
1 med jar of mayonaise
1/2 green bell pepper finely diced
1 small onion finely diced
1 tb lemon juice
1/2 tb whorchestershire sauce
1/2 tsp pepper
1/2 cup dried parsley

mix and let sit over night..

warm beef dip

8 oz. cream cheese
2 tb milk
1 small jar chip beef diced
2 tab minced onion
1/8 tsp pepper
1/2 cup sour cream

mix and top with 1/4 cup of chopped walnuts. bake 350 degrees 15 min. serve with crackers

This makes a huge batch but it doesnt seem to hang around long. Its a weird little recipe with only 3 ingredients but it always goes over big when I take it someplace.
1 block velveetta
1 jar mayonnaise( dont use miracle whip)
1 large can diced jalapenos
Dump all 3 ingredients into a bowl and whip the holy heck out of them with a hand mixer. You can leave it as chunky or smooth as you want. I usually use less mayo than the whole jar( 3/4 of a jar)
It gets hotter the longer it sits.
