Big east windows at roost height to get first light. Except in the hottest weather I only have openings on one side to prevent drafts.

Window on the East for first light. Window on the North for good cross ventilation. NO windows on the West- because it's too darned hot in the summer to have a window on that side. We have no trees around, no shade, no shelter from the sun and it would cook them in there. I did make a small "window" on the south side- but it's a solid "door" that props open. The pop door is also on the South side. If you only have two windows, I'd recommend East and North.

I believe in cross ventalation so EAST and West sides for morning and afternoon light.
