Dirt floor disadvantages?

If you can go with an elevated floor at a foot off the ground I think you will be happier.
I have had dirt floors and you will have rodent issues for sure and maybe mud issues if it sits in a low area or is not built properly.

Our dirt floor coop, we thought was safe from predators....but they dug under the blocks and wire and well....it was a sad ending. When we made our new coop...we went with entirely wood and totally predator proof. Not even a snake is gonna be able to breech this hen house!!
Also..when ever I had to crawl in with the girls to clean or collect eggs...the dust was really bad, even with a bail of straw added to it. So in the long run ...wood is probally better for you and the girls too. Good luck with your new coop!
