. My girls are laying 3 eggs a day but one 'Hattie' has a very dirty bottom, I make sure that they perch at night so theres no sleeping in the nest boxes. Im not sure if I should wash her, leave her or take her to the vet?? I'd hate her to feel neglected so please help.

I would wash your girls booty with some warm water and some shampoo maybe. Its not gonna hurt her. Hopefully that will take care of the problem and maybe it want happen again. Good luck!

Welcome the the world of chicken nuts here at BYC but be careful because we are all enablers.

Hopefully cleaning her up it want happen again. If it does you'll have to figure out why. In my experience though, once I get one cleaned up it usually takes care of the problem.

About 15 years ago when I still lived in Atlanta before I moved to the country if you had told me I would be cleaning poo off a chickens butt and had two pot bellied pigs living in my house I would of laughed you out of the state.
