I knew I had straight run Pekins, but it's never been an issue til now. My ducks are just about a year old, and have been laying for at least 6 months. I've been in school full time, and didn't realize that my boys have been getting out of hand. Today, I watched three boys take on my smallest little lady, and she was trying her best to get away. Now, I know that they are a little rough for my taste, but when I noticed that she has NO feathers on the back of the head, all the way to her beak, and nothing above her eyes, that it was time to take action.
My ducks are in a mixed pen, but tonight, I separated all but my my "Big Drake" and left the other three boys in the time-out pen. They need to let those poor ladies rest for a while!! However, my ladies, two of them, have open sores on the backs of their heads. What can I put on those wounds to help them heal? I almost used my silvadine ointment that had been used on a post-op surgical infection. Any ideas?
