Dirty bums

Here is a picture of Baja Birdbrain and how SHE takes care of a poopy butt. I get the job of holding the chicken in a plastic tub of warm soapy water while BB washes the affected area. After soaking a bit a gentle hand wash usually cleans the feathers.

The next step in the Spa Treatment is a towel dry followed by blow drying with a hair dryer! True confession is that these weren't even OUR chickens!!!!! We were just babysitting a neighbor's 4 girls. They were so "mistreated" by their owner that we ended up cleaning out the coop, putting in new pine shavings, I rebuilt the fence and gate to what served as their run, and they got some free ranging time, something we are sure they had never experienced.

Many other issues happened after that and it disturbed BB so much that after over a year of occasional babysitting duties she couldn't take it any more. March of '17 we got our first 11 chicks from Meyer's and the adventure really started.

So far poopy butt hasn't been a problem with OUR girls but they do get a face washing when needed along with an oil facial for some, sign. Sorry for the long winded tale.
