I find that using smaller pine flake and stirring it a couple times a day helps. When they are four weeks old I bathe my show broilers in warm water and blow dry them. I just use a mild shampoo and a separate tub for rinsing. They seem to like it once they get used to it. I do it about once or twice a week so the final wash before the show isn't too bad. Just make sure that they don't get cold when they are young and they should be fine.
