Dirty duck

What do you guys do with a duck who is having trouble preening? He’s dirt, and has a hard time reaching his oil gland. Bill is a Peking but he’s been a big boy since he was a baby! It’s been freezing so they don’t have their pool. I’m not sure what to do….

If you get a day above freezing, allow him to take a bath. He's not in bad shape and threatened with any sort of real problems.

He looks in pretty good condition. He looks a bit overweight. When I had Pekins, I couldn't free feed them because they would eat me out of house and home. You probably want to regulate how much he eats if you haven't already. Loosing some weight should help him move better. I also had other breeds as well that encouraged my Pekins to move around. One had such a chubby cheeks. But when other breeds were added, she became more active and slimmed down a bit.
